From the Desk of Sharon Simmonds, PhD
Dear Students, Families, and Staff,
It is with great enthusiasm and a profound sense of responsibility that I introduce myself as one of your Assistant Principals at the Queens Transition Center (QTC). Having dedicated my career to Special Education, I am honored to serve a school community defined by its resilience, diversity, and unwavering commitment to student achievement.
My leadership philosophy is rooted in the conviction that educational access is a fundamental right and that progress is a collective accomplishment. My mission is to ensure that every student at QTC feels seen, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential.
To ensure we are providing a positive learning environment and the highest caliber of support, we are particularly focused on the following:
- Evidence-Based Instruction: Implementing data-driven strategies that bridge the gap between student ability and academic achievement.
- Professional Development: Equipping our educators with the latest therapeutic and pedagogical advancements to remain at the forefront of Special Education.
- Community Integration: Strengthening the partnership between school, home, and the broader community to ensure our students are prepared for life beyond the classroom.
At QTC, we recognize that success is deeply personal. I am committed to fostering an environment that prioritizes specialized support, dignity, and growth tailored to each individual. Our success relies on the "Golden Triangle" of support: the student, the school, and the family. I invite you to remain active participants in our community; your advocacy and partnership are the primary catalysts for the breakthroughs we see in our classrooms every day.
Through transparent communication and a shared vision, I am confident we will exceed our goals. My door is always open, and I look forward to meeting you at upcoming school events and throughout our hallways.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.
Warmly,
Sharon Simmonds, PhD
